Shadows & Reflections, Sidney B.C

I am busy preparing and very excited to bring you an exhibition with my most recent work, Shadows and Reflections! Please join me and guest artist Calvin Coles, as we look at the shadows and reflections in our work, emerging from our individual emotional space. Representationally, you will notice landscapes, birds and florals but the expressive work holds a space for your own reflection in the experience of engagement. Two artists with very different styles and perspectives, coming together with overlap in subject matter and the emotion behind the work.

We will be holding demonstrations throughout the week and will be on site most days and times to answer questions about our work, including inspiration, materials, and process. We hope you can join us!

Good coffee AND art... what better combination could there be?! This coffee shop is near and dear to my heart as we both found our beginnings in West Vancouver, BC. The first BATW coffee shop popped up during my high school years, just as my friends and I were enjoying our first tastes of coffee. What better bean could I have tasted, that would lead to a lifelong relationship with this magical drink!

Arabella’s artwork has an expressionist feel, as she uses bright hues and bold strokes to capture the emotion she experiences within the natural environment.

Arabella Young is a contemporary fine artist, currently living and working in Sidney, BC, traditional WSANEC territory. Arabella grew up on the North Shore of Vancouver, BC, where she hiked with her family through the beautiful forests, skied in the mountains, and swam in the ocean. As a first-generation Canadian of mixed race, the culturally diverse and artistically nurturing environment of her childhood home encouraged her own creativity and personal expression.
